INSTALLATION AND PROCESSING OF FACADE PROFILES AND ORNAMENTS MADE OF STERILE AND FIBRAN
Installation Guide Styrofoam Profiles
WHEN ARE PROFILES AND ORNAMENTS INSTALLED ON THE FACADE?
Laying Thermal Insulation
Putty with reinforcing mesh
First-hand putty
Recommended | Easy Installation | Budget-friendly
The facade decorative profiles and ornaments made of polystyrene or fiberboard are installed during the installation of the thermal insulation. It is recommended to do this before applying the final decorative plaster. It is preferable to glue them onto the thermal insulation, which has been puttied with a mesh in one layer. This ensures proper jointing of the polystyrene profiles along their length and prevents water penetration. You save on additional purchase of materials for the subsequent jointing process.
Not Recommended | Difficult Installation | Expensive
In case the installation will be carried out on a finished facade with a final plaster applied, strips with the width of the profiles and polystyrene ornaments are previously outlined and covered with paper tape and nylon. It is mandatory that after installation and coating the polystyrene products, they be grouted laterally on all sides to avoid future penetration of moisture behind the ornament, which may freeze and peel it off the facade.

How are the Facade profiles installed?
Facade Decorative Profiles and Ornaments made of Styrofoam or Fibran are glued with adhesive for thermal insulation - polymer cement adhesive / mixture or polyurethane non-expanding foam for gluing thermal insulation.

Required Tools
- Saw or Miter Saw
- Straight Edge or Miter Saw
- Measuring Tape, Ruler or Scriber
- Level, Mechanical or Laser
- Trouser Comb or Foam/Glue Gun
Sizing of Styrofoam Profiles and Decorative Ornaments
The installation begins in the direction you have chosen, and it is advisable to pre-size the profiles or details that you will install. We recommend that you draw the path along which you will install the profiles with a scriber. Use a laser level in advance, which will show you the correct leveled position of the profiles and Styrofoam details.
Applying the glue
Choose the most suitable adhesive for gluing the decorative details depending on the conditions in which you want the elements to be placed. Make sure that the surface and profile to which you will apply the adhesive are well cleaned. Read and follow the instructions for using the adhesive carefully!

Important Information!
Apply a layer of glue with a tool depending on the glue you use on the surface, remembering to apply a generous amount of glue to the side of the profile where the joint is formed, it will serve as an element protecting against cracks! While gluing the profiles, press them lightly against each other so that the glue placed between them comes out of the joint while it is fresh. Use a flexible spatula to remove excess glue.

When is Strengthening needed?
We recommend Doweling and Strengthening of Styrofoam Decorative Ornaments and Profiles in all cases where the decorative element is expected to carry an additional load besides itself!

1. Glue the Profiles
The profiles are glued with polyurethane adhesive CERESIT CT84 or with Thermal Insulation Adhesive. Please follow the instructions for the type of adhesive you are using! Pre-draw the position of the profiles and ornaments on the facade!
PS Designers
2. Grout and glue the ornaments to each other
Be sure to glue the profiles or ornaments to each other using the glue you use! This is the only way to prevent subsequent cracking of the joints! Use Reinforcing Mesh Tape when necessary for the joints!
PS Designers
3. Dowel and Reinforce the Styrofoam Ornaments
Use the dowels or reinforcing elements from the Kit to strengthen profiles or ornaments of larger dimensions and weight. If you wish to place a stone cap on the profiles, be sure to dowel the elements for reliability!
PS Designers
4. Place Cover and spread it with the mold from the Kit
Using the matrix from the kit, apply the first layer of the polymer coating along the length of the profiles, without stopping the process along the entire length of the element!
PS Designers
5. Process the Final Coating Result
Using a brush and the matrix from the kit, apply the second final layer of the polymer coating, which can be diluted with up to 10% water to achieve perfect smoothness! Apply along the length of the profiles, without stopping the process along the entire length of the decorative element!
PS Designers
6. Importance of Coverage
The final layer is applied after the first layer has completely dried - approximately 24 hours after applying the first layer. Do not grout the elements, but apply it evenly along the entire length using the coating!
PS Designers
7. Decorative Ornaments Coating
All decorative ornaments that are not in the form of a profile are coated with polymer using a brush, in two layers, as with the profiles. Carefully shape the Styrofoam ornaments

8. Paint the ornaments on the Facade
You can paint in two ways. You can paint the ornaments and profiles with a water-soluble paint of your choice.
You can also use powder paint, which you can dissolve in the polymer and get the desired color at the same time as applying the coating.

9. Gluing the Main Cornice
Use CERESIT CT84 for bonding to all types of surfaces, such as metal, wood, plastic and insulating materials. Use the fixing elements in the kit for additional reinforcement!

10. How and When are the Profiles Placed Around Your Windows?
Install the profiles around the windows and in the corners of the Facade so that they blend in with the window trim or the corners of the Facade as much as possible. Protect the building from thermal bridges and water penetration!

11. Embed the Decoration into the Insulation
The Styrofoam and Fibran, which we use for the production of decorative ornaments, have a higher density than the thermal insulation sheets. Plan the Facade of Time and in this way you will get a much better thermal insulation system for your building!

COATING AND SURFACE TREATMENT
Polymer Acrylic Coating
All Styrofoam and Fibran Profiles and Ornaments must be treated with a coating after they have been glued to the facade. This will ensure that all joints between the details and the facade are well filled and further cracking of the joints and water penetration will be avoided. The polymer acrylic coating is mixed very well with a stirrer. The coating is applied with a reverse matrix tool or can be diluted with water and applied with a brush. 2 layers are required. After it dries well, the surface can be sanded where necessary (to remove irregularities).
Other Coatings for Styrofoam and Fibran
You can use any polymer-cement thermal insulation putties as a protective coating for profiles and ornaments made of polystyrene and fiberboard. Apply with the tool provided by us - a reverse matrix and follow the manufacturer's instructions for preparing the mixture. Before painting with facade paint, use a contact primer.

Window Frames and Turning to Woodwork
The ornaments and profiles for turning windows and doors offered by us must be installed so that they do not close (occlude) the technological openings of your joinery! We can produce turning modules of different thicknesses and depths.

Exterior Finishing Activities
After proper bonding and coating of the polystyrene profiles/elements, you can prime and proceed to painting. Use high-quality and elastic water-based facade paints.
PS Designers
Interior Coatings
When installing polystyrene profiles and ornaments in the interior, you can treat the joints and smooth the structure of the material with polystyrene paste. Since the structure of the fiberboard is smooth, only painting without applying a coating is permissible. You can use any interior decorative plasters.

Painting Profiles
Painting of the profiles/elements is done after waiting for the period specified by the manufacturer of the adhesive and coating for its complete drying. You can use all types of water-based interior or exterior paint.
